GEG Completes Karamoja Health Supply Chain Study Kampala: At the end of January, GEG completed a four-month study of the health commodity supply chain in the Karamoja region of Uganda for UNICEF Uganda. The project analysed the flow of life saving pharmaceuticals with a particular focus on anti-malarials to determine bottlenecks and improvements to the existing Government of Uganda logistics systems. “Ensuring the timely delivery and proper storage of life-saving medication can dramatically improve the quality of care and life in Karamoja,” said GEG CEO and Project Manager Langdon Greenhalgh. The study comprised three phases: desk research, field study and action plan development. Stakeholders from local, district and national levels were included in developing the study and outcomes in support of the Government of Uganda. “We were happy with the way GEG managed stakeholders throughout the study,” said UNICEF Dr. Claudia Hudspeth. “The entire piece of work exceeded our expectations and serves as a great launching point for improvements that we can begin implementing to save the lives of women and children in Karamoja, and perhaps, then throughout Uganda,” she continued.
